After this lesson, try to
- Identify authorized, supported and exceptional assets.
- Explain configuration control and change effects.
- Trace patching from priorities through verification and monitoring.
Know what is authorized and supported
Keep useful inventories of enterprise assets and software, including ownership, versions, purpose and lifecycle status. Identify unauthorized assets and choose an appropriate response such as removal, denying access or quarantine. Unsupported software needs a deliberate decision and suitable mitigations or replacement; an exception must not silently become permanent acceptance. The CISA example flags risk but does not provide current support dates for every product.
Configuration is a controlled state
Secure configuration establishes suitable settings rather than accepting defaults without review. Change management assesses, approves, implements and records changes so that security and operational effects can be understood. Configuration records and review help detect drift. A change that fixes one problem can introduce another, so testing and recovery arrangements matter.
Treat patching as a risk-response workflow
Know which vulnerabilities affect which assets; plan the response; prepare, implement, verify and monitor it. Preparation can include prioritizing, scheduling, acquiring, validating and testing a patch. Deployment may require a restart or other state change. Verification checks that the patch is installed and effective; monitoring checks it remains in place. “Download complete” is not successful risk reduction.
Measure results and plan support before buying
Patch metrics become more useful when they distinguish asset importance, vulnerability importance and the relevant maintenance plan. A global patched percentage can hide critical exceptions. Procurement should consider update availability, support duration, delivery/notification and maintenance needs. The source’s matrix is notional; its percentages and elapsed times are not universal deadlines.
Track changes to AI-related components
Editorial application: include relevant AI services, software, models, configurations and datasets in the asset/change picture according to actual ownership and control. Record the intended change and check its operational effects. Retiring a service also involves its accounts, data and dependencies, not only deleting a shortcut.
Make it your own.
Create a fictional change record for an unsupported integration, with owner, dependency check, testing, rollback and verification.
Use fictional information. Writing an answer helps expose assumptions; this exercise is not independently marked.

- AI workspace inputs, version changes and testing
INTRODUCTORY MATERIAL SUPPLIED · The missing introductory acceptable-input and change-testing walkthroughs now include artifacts, explained model guidance and self-check. Independently marked learner work and actual operational testing remain unresolved.

Coverage and remaining teaching
- AI05: Introductory material is supplied; broader scope is unverified in the exam coverage register.
Practice and feedback
- AI05: A guided paper case and explained model are available; independent review of fresh learner work and any live validation remain separate.
Free and paid resources
The linked applied guides and their paper activities are free; no cloud purchase or real-system test is needed. Official examination and maintenance charges follow issuer terms. Optional paid training or feedback is distinct from these free exercises.
