Applied objective/support practice is now concrete; complete authorized clause-level requirements and provider feedback are still needed.
Original editorial teaching and fictional application, informed by the linked primary passages. Compare your reasoning with the model; this is not independently marked learner work, an official examination key or a replacement for the selected course.

2. Try the fictional case.
Turn export protection into an objective and usable working information
T-01 addresses R-01 by changing export permissions and approvals. Example Studio's founder has allocated two developer days and one staff briefing. Staff currently use inconsistent copies of the export instructions.
Your tasks
- State an objective, target, owner, action, resources, deadline and evaluation method.
- Define a role-specific competence task and acceptable evidence.
- Write one communication-plan row and one controlled-document row.
- Explain how a change to the export process is planned and approved.
3. Compare your reasoning.
Decide and write your explanation first. Where a table is wider than your screen, focus it and use the arrow keys, or scroll it sideways.
Open explained model guidance
Objective O-01: after the studio's agreed implementation date, every booking CSV export has a recorded independent business approval before release. Target 100% during the next monthly review period. Operations Lead owns the result; developer configures the approval gate using two allocated days; staff briefing precedes release. Compare timestamped export events with the approval register, using a clearly defined total-export population.
The implementation action is introducing the gate; the intended result is preventing release without approval. Report both operating effectiveness and useful limitations rather than treating 'feature installed' as objective achievement.
Competence example: a staff member receives an unfamiliar fictional urgent-export request, checks the recipient/purpose, refuses an unapproved release, routes it for approval and identifies the evidence to retain. A reviewer records what was observed and any needed follow-up. Attendance alone does not establish this ability. Separately check awareness: the person explains the current policy, their contribution to ISMS effectiveness and what can follow from not meeting the requirements. Correct task performance and these explanations provide different evidence.
Communication row: Operations Lead explains the revised export rule to staff before the effective date, through a briefing and controlled instructions, with questions and a short demonstration. Record what, audience, timing and method; assigning a sender is a practical studio choice, not a copied obsolete 7.4(d) requirement.
Document row: EXP-WI-01, version 1.0, owner Operations Lead, approver founder, effective date and controlled location. Restrict editing, keep authorized access available, protect the change history, remove obsolete copies from ordinary use, and apply the studio's justified retention rule. No universal retention duration is invented.
Change C-00 must identify effects on the objective, risk, responsibilities, instructions, training and tests before approval. A revised document is reviewed and reissued before the new workflow becomes normal practice.
Editorial planning and records, not a complete 6.2/6.3/7 checklist. A single observed task does not prove every competence requirement.
4. Check the work, not just the score.
- Is the objective a result relevant to the risk, with an evaluation method and adequate resources?
- Are the numerator, denominator and approval timing unambiguous?
- Does competence evidence show correct performance on a new task?
- Can a staff member retrieve the approved current instruction?
- Are local roles, deadlines and retention choices clearly distinguished from ISO requirements?
These checks help you revise an explanation. They do not certify mastery or predict an examination result. Ask a qualified reviewer to assess a fresh case when independent feedback is needed.
5. Keep the limits in view.
Free coverage added
- A complete fictional objective/action/measurement record with role and resources.
- A competence task, targeted communication plan and controlled-document example.
- A distinction between the desired result, an implementation action, a measurement result and evidence of ability.
